Hey loves! It’s finally here. A healthy way to each french toasts!!!
You guys have no idea how much I love French Toasts in general, and even though, I’m not going to say this healthy way tastes the same as the kind you’ll only eat on a cheat meal, it does taste amazing! They are perfect to start your weekend off the right way.
I usually eat these over the weekend paired with 1/2 tbsp butter and sugar free maple syrup.
Having some kind of flexibility in this journey is what has given me the strength to keep it up LOL. All I ate before I started eating healthy was pizza, grilled cheese and mac & cheese, so trust me when I say to you, if I’m doing it, you can do it too.
My advice is for you to start keeping track of everything you eat, it’s annoying, but it does help and after you get used to it, it’s really not that bad. I know I’ve talked about intuitive eating before and I do want to get there eventually, but I would never be where I am today if it wasn’t for My Fitness Pal. That’s the app I use to track my meals, calories and macros.
Ok, sorry for the long intro, but I feel like I have so much to say in these posts. Hope you enjoy this recipe. Here it is:
Healthy French Toast recipe with step by step:
2 slices of multi grain bread (This one has 90 calories per slice and 6 grams of fiber)
1 egg
1 tbsp cinnamon (or more if desired)
1/4 cup egg whites
1/4 cup almond milk (or any nut milk)
1 tsp stevia
1 tsp vanilla extract
Put all the ingredients together in a medium bowl. Make sure it’s big enough to dip the bread in. Whisk for a couple minutes until it looks like this:
Dip the first slice of bread in for around 2-3 minutes on each side. You have to let the bread absorb a lot of the mix so it gets moist in the middle after you cook it.
In the meantime, start heating a non-stick pan and spray it with some coconut oil or any zero calorie spray you have available. Cook the french toast for 3-4 mins on each side until it looks like this.
Repeat this process for both slices of bread. Be patient and do let the bread soak in the entire mix. This really makes all the difference.
Note: This is not the bread I normally use. I use Ezequiel, but I tried this recipe with that one and it sucked. I like the Ezequiel bread better when it’s toasted.
Enjoy your French Toasts!! These are delicious with butter and sugar free maple syrup. Make sure to control de quantity of butter you use ok? (Use a kitchen scale) And keep track of it on ‘My Fitness Pal’.
