What you need to know about spring in Europe…
Even though this time of the year in Europe is a dream come true, packing for this season can feel overwhelming, especially with Europe’s unpredictable weather. So when it comes to thinking about which spring in Europe packing essentials to bring, versatility is key.
Days can be warm and sunny, but mornings and evenings often bring a chill. Add cobblestone streets, sudden rain showers, and delicious meals to the mix, and you’ll see why packing thoughtfully is so important 😅 (I’ll explain)
If you’re planning a European getaway this spring, you’ll want to pack light but without sacrificing style. That’s why I’ve created this list of the top 10 spring in Europe packing essentials. From timeless wardrobe staples to must-have travel accessories, these are the 10 pieces I always pack for Europe in the spring.
Let’s dive in and get your suitcase ready for the adventure of a lifetime! 🌍
Spring Travel in Europe Essential ➡️ #1 Comfy Joggers
Let’s be real. Spring in Europe means lots of amazing food. Elastic-waist joggers are a lifesaver when you’re indulging in gelato, tapas, and everything in between.
Plus, they’re perfect for long travel days or casual sightseeing. Stylish and functional? Yes, please!
🎯 These are the exact joggers I have! (super durable, stylish, flattering and comfortable)
🎯 This brand also has gorgeous joggers, and I know for sure, they are great quality!
Essential #2 ➡️ White Leather Sneakers 👟
Cobblestone streets are beautiful but can be tricky to navigate in flimsy shoes.
A good pair of white leather sneakers is both practical and chic, and they go with everything from dresses to joggers. Your feet will thank you after a day of walking around Europe’s beautiful cities!
🎯 These are the white leather sneakers I’ve traveled the world with since September 2021!
#3 ➡️ A High Quality Carry-on! 🧳
If you’ve ever lugged a bulky suitcase across cobblestone streets or tried to shove it onto a crowded European train, you know the struggle is real.
A high-quality carry-on bag is your best bet for navigating Europe’s charming but not-suitcase-friendly streets.
Whether you’re hopping on a train in Portugal, or walking up stairs in an Airbnb without an elevator (very common in Europe!), a lightweight carry-on like this one, will make your travels much smoother.
⭐️ Bonus: You’ll save time at the airport and avoid those pesky baggage fees.
Carry-on only is truly the easiest way to travel around Europe. You can also read this blog post where I explain how I was able to downsize from checked bag to carry-on forever!
🎯 This the exact carry-on I have. I literally carry everything I need for up to 6 months of travel! 20 inches may sound small, but it’s really more than enough.
And if I can do it, so can you! I’ve seen it happen many times, girl. I truly believe you’ve got this 💪🏼
⭐️ Do you want me to pack for you?
I can send you a customized packing list for your European spring trip! Simply answer these 2 questions about your trip and I’ll send you exactly what you need to pack. It’s that easy!
And the best part? I’ve tried and tested these packing lists myself! Get started 👇🏼
Spring in Europe Packing Essential #4 ➡️ A Denim Jacket!
Spring weather in Europe can be unpredictable! But a denim jacket is versatile, easy to layer, and perfect for transitioning between seasons.
It’s been my go-to for everything from wine tours in Tuscany to evening strolls in Dubrovnik. Your denim jacket will look with everything in your suitcase, so you won’t need to pack a ton of extra layering pieces, which can take up a lot of space.
🎯 This is the denim jacket I currently have. I recommend that you always size up so you can layer it with a sweater underneath if you need to.
Essential #5 ➡️ The Trusty Pashmina!
This is one of my must-haves for every trip! A pashmina might be the most underrated travel accessory.
It’s not just a scarf—it’s your go-to for staying cozy on chilly spring mornings, covering your shoulders at religious sites, or dressing up a simple outfit for dinner. You can even use it as a blanket on flights or as a picnic blanket!
Pashminas are lightweight, fold up small, and add a touch of elegance to any outfit. I seriously never EVER travel without one of these!
🎯 My blue pashmina is about 15 years old… no joke! But you can check out these ones on Amazon. They have so many different colors. And don’t be afraid to pick a pop of color!
Travel Essential #6 ➡ The Often Forgotten Travel Adapter!
Europe’s different outlet types can throw you off if you’re not prepared, and you don’t want to be stuck with a dead phone, laptop or camera while traveling.
A universal travel adapter ensures you can charge all your gadgets, no matter which country you’re in. Make sure to get one with multiple USB ports to charge several devices at once, and you’ll be ready for anything!
🎯 For some reason the one I’ve had for 4 years is always sold out. But I found this one on Amazon that has great reviews!
Spring in Europe Essential #7 ➡️ The Right Accessories!
Sometimes basic outfits need a little upgrade, especially if you’re trying to pack light.
That’s when accessories come in! They are your secret weapon for packing light while staying stylish. Think statement earrings, colorful neck scarves, or cute headbands. (those are my top 3 faves)
These little items take up no space in your carry-on but can completely transform a basic outfit. A plain white T-shirt and jeans suddenly feel chic with bold earrings. And a neck scarf can double as a hair accessory or bag decoration.
The right accessories help you look put-together without overpacking! Win win! 🏆
🎯 Browse cute statement earrings here.
PS: I fit all my earrings inside this travel jewelry box!
Essential #8 ➡️ A Crossbody Bag
A crossbody bag is not just a convenience—it’s a necessity in Europe, where pickpockets often target busy tourist areas.
It’s key that your crossbody bag has a zipper to keep your belongings safe while you explore a new city. Besides security, crossbody bags are practical for carrying essentials like your phone, wallet and sunnies.
Plus, the hands-free design is perfect for snapping those cute vacation photos or holding gelato 🍦
🎯 Here’s the link to the exact crossbody bag I’m wearing in the photo. I’ve been traveling with it for over 9 months now, and I love it SO MUCH!

Spring in Europe Packing Essential #9 ➡️ A Matching Set!
Instead of packing multiple dresses, opt for coordinated top-and-bottom sets that can mix and match with other pieces in your suitcase.
For example, a breezy linen top and matching pants can be worn together for a polished look or paired separately with other items to create a variety of outfits!
Matching sets are comfortable, stylish, and versatile, making them ideal for everything from brunch in Bordeaux to exploring gorgeous castles in Portugal.
Bonus: They pack down small, leaving more room in your carry-on for souvenirs! Of course you’re going to go shopping in Europe 🛍️
🎯 My top 3 places to buy cute top & bottom sets (or matching sets):
Budget (sustainable) – Medium (sustainable) – Premium (sustainable)
How many do you need to pack? Just 1.
#10 ➡️ Travel Friendly Skincare!
Your skin goes through a lot when traveling… think of dry airplane cabins, fluctuating weather, and long days of sightseeing in the sun. These things can all take a toll on your skin. That’s why packing travel-friendly skincare is a non-negotiable for me.
I personally use and recommend Primally Pure, a clean and natural skincare brand that’s perfect for travel. Their travel-size options fit easily in a carry-on, and their multi-functional products, like the Everything Spray, help you pack light without sacrificing quality. Plus, they’re free of harsh chemicals!
It’s better to bring products you know and trust. A consistent skincare routine helps you feel refreshed and keeps your skin glowing, no matter where you are.

PS: make sure to pack your toiletries in a clear bag for airport security! They’re kind of annoying about this stuff in some European airports.
🎯 This is how my current beauty routine looks like:
- Make-up remover rounds (you only need water, and no need to pack cleanser)
- Plumping Cream *can be used as eye-serum*
- Plumping Serum *can be used as eye-cream*
🌙 For nighttime only I religiously use this antioxidant balm. It’s glorious!

Bonus Items! Don’t forget about these:
1️⃣ INTERNATIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE: If you’re renting a car in Italy, you’ll need one. You can easily get this at a AAA office in the US.
2️⃣ E-SIM: Stay connected from the moment you land by getting an e-sim ahead of time. I’ve used HolaFly, and it’s been a game-changer.
3️⃣ TRAVEL INSURANCE: Safety is everything! We’ve always relied on SafetyWing for peace of mind.
4️⃣ VPN: Using public Wi-Fi? Protect your data with a VPN. Surfshark has been our go-to for years. 🔐
