Back to School Teacher Outfits for Warm Weather (Days 1–60)
The first 30 days of school usually mean warm mornings, sunny afternoons, and classrooms with unpredictable temps. The key? Light layers, breathable fabrics, and outfits that help you feel confident and comfortable all day long.
Below are 30 back to school teacher outfits perfect for late summer and early fall — easy to mix and match, dress up or down, and re-create with pieces you already own.
Outfit Formulas for the First 30 Days:
Midi or maxi dresses + white sneakers + accessories of your choice:
The easiest throw-on-and-go outfit. Comfortable, airy, and polished — perfect for days when you don’t want to think too hard about what to wear.
This is a super easy one to get started. You can recreate this outfit formula with basically all the dresses and sneakers you would bring to school!
Basic T-shirt + comfy joggers or pull-on pants + sneakers or loafers + layering piece (optional):
Classroom-approved, casual, and still put together. Add your favorite accessories (my top suggestions are headbands and statement earrings) or a crossbody bag to elevate the look.
You can pick any comfy pant you want and any T-shirt. I obviously love white ones but you know you’ll skip that color if you work with little ones 😅.
T-shirts are great because they’re easy to layer with denim jackets or cardigans. Also, because these outfits are for August and September, it’s totally ok to wear your linen pants!
⭐️ Styling tip: if you want your outfits to feel more elevated, choose printed wide leg pants or T-shirts with a lace detail or puff sleeves. It’s an easy way to instantly look more put together!

Midi skirts + T-shirt + flat sandals, flat shoes or white sneakers:
A go-to formula for effortless style. Choose simple tees and let the skirt add personality with color or pattern. This is one of my favorite outfit formulas!
Feel free to pick a cami instead of a T-shirt and add a denim jacket! All of this obviously depends on the dress code at your school, but hopefully these back to school teacher outfits are starting to inspire you!
As September rolls in, mornings start feeling cooler, but afternoons can still be warm. These next teacher outfit ideas are about layering smartly and transitioning into early fall while staying comfortable and polished.
Linen button down shirt + bottom piece of your choice + flat sandals or sneakers:
Feel free to also use a jumpsuit or a dress! It never fails to tie your button down shirt with a front knot. It’s casual, but shows that you care and it accentuates your waist! If you’re afraid your belly will show, wear a cami underneath.
This is probably the last chance you have to wear your linen shirt until next summer (or a tropical getaway), so try to make the most of it in August and September.
Again, you’ll notice that mine is white, but feel free to style any color you have. This brand has amazing linen shirts at an unbeatable price and over 10 different colors and prints!
And if you don’t like linen, use a chambray shirt or any button down shirt you have!
Outfit Formulas for Days 31–60:
Comfy Pants + T-shirt (or long sleeve) + Layering piece + sneakers:
One of the best practical and comfortable teacher outfits for those transitional days! Easy to move in, easy to layer, and perfect for long hours on your feet. Swap the t-shirt for a long sleeve when it gets chilly, and that’s it!
The layering piece can be a denim jacket, button down shirt or even a pashmina/lightweight scarf. It’s up to you!
⭐️ Styling tip: if you’re having one of those days where you don’t know what to wear, dress head to toe in the same color and add accessories and you’ll be good to go!
Comfy Joggers + Casual sweater + White sneakers:
The ultimate comfortable teacher outfit for busy days! Start with your favorite soft joggers, then have fun with the sweater — go bold with color, try a fun texture, or even a graphic print.
When your base is comfy, the top is your chance to show some personality!

Midi dress + cozy cardigan + booties:
An ideal back to school teacher outfit for cooler mornings! The cozy cardigan adds just the right amount of warmth, and the booties make it feel polished while still being super comfortable.
A great go-to for days when you want to look put-together and feel cozy.
T-shirt + joggers or pull-on pants + long cardigan + sneakers or flat shoes:
Same comfortable base, but now with a cozy layer for chilly classrooms. You can use a regular T-shirt, or a long sleeve T-shirt as it starts to get colder.
If you want to be extra comfy, try wide leg joggers like these ones. But you can also replace the joggers with any pair of comfy pants or jeans.

Midi skirt + Long Sleeve T-shirt or crewneck sweater + Sneakers:
I swear you’ll wear your long sleeve T-shirts so much during this time of the year! It’s such a staple and easy to style with printed pieces. It’s an easy way to look well put together with little to no effort.
Jeans (any color) + T-shirt (or long sleeve) + Denim jacket or blazer + comfy shoes:
Perfect for those in-between temps — light but polished.
If you don’t have a denim jacket or blazer you would wear to school, consider a thicker button down shirt like a chambray one or whatever printed jacket you have. (just take a look at the photos below to see what I mean)
The comfy shoes can be loafers, flats, booties or white sneakers!
Styling Tips for the First 60 Days of School:
⭐️ Start with breathable fabrics (cotton, linen, soft knits) and add light layers as the weather shifts (this store has amazing sustainable and high quality pieces at unbeatable prices!)
⭐️ Keep a denim jacket or long cardigan in your classroom for those chilly mornings or AC-heavy afternoons.
⭐️ Comfortable teacher outfits don’t have to be boring — play with patterns, colors, and textures in your skirts, dresses, or scarves.
⭐️ Choose versatile footwear: white sneakers for busier days, loafers or mules for when you want to feel a bit more dressed up.
⭐️ Reuse your favorite pieces in different combinations — one button down shirt can give you 5–6 different looks with simple swaps.
⭐️ Consider elevated basics — a silk t-shirt, puff sleeves, or subtle lace details can make even simple outfits feel special.

Think soft sweaters, ankle boots, maxi skirts, and layering pieces that give your outfits that little something extra.
Not sure what to wear? Start with these 40 easy teacher outfit ideas:
Corduroy pants + long sleeve T-shirt + Long cardigan + Booties or sneakers:
A fresh take on your everyday back to school teacher outfit. The texture of the corduroy pants instantly makes it feel fall-ready, and the long cardigan adds that cozy, layered vibe we all crave this time of year.

Midi dress + long cardigan + booties + accessories:
This is one of those back to school teacher outfits that does it all — polished, comfortable, and full of personality. A printed midi dress adds instant charm, while the long cardigan and flat booties keep it classroom-friendly.

If it’s colder, simply add tights!
Button down shirt + jeans + long cardigan + booties or white sneakers:
A classic back to school teacher outfit that’s easy to customize!
👉🏻 Go with denim on denim for a laid-back vibe, or swap in a plaid flannel for cozy fall energy.
👉🏻 Not into jeans? Try wide leg pants or soft corduroys instead.
👉🏻 Want to switch up the layers? A cropped jacket or chunky knit would work just as well.
This formula is all about making it your own while still feeling comfortable and pulled together.

Sweater + layering piece + jeans + white sneakers/flats/booties + scarf (if needed):
A go-to back to school teacher outfit when you want comfort and a little personality. The scarf adds a touch of style (and warmth!), and you can play with patterns, textures, or color to make it your own.
⭐️ Styling tip: this outfit works with any layering piece — try a vest, coat, or even a structured blazer to switch things up.

Jeans + cozy sweater + boots (or sneakers for warmer days):
This back to school teacher outfit formula is the real MVP of fall dressing. Start with your favorite jeans, then play with sweaters — go for bright colors, fun textures, or even little details like ties or puff sleeves.

⭐️ Styling tip: leopard anything (shoes or scarves!) adds instant personality without trying too hard.
Jeans + crewneck sweater + layering piece + rain boots:
When it’s wet outside but you still want to look cute, this back to school teacher outfit is your best friend. Pair your favorite jeans with a cozy sweater, then top it off with a jacket, puffer vest, or a cozy scarf for that extra layer of warmth.
Rain boots don’t have to be boring — go bold with a pop of color or pattern to brighten up even the dreariest school days!
If these tall rain boots would be too uncomfortable to wear the whole day, check these ones out or bring an extra pair of shoes and change.

Maxi or midi skirt + crewneck sweater + biker jacket + white sneakers:
This back to school teacher outfit is proof that comfort and style can absolutely go hand in hand. A soft, flowy midi or maxi skirt is perfect for long days on your feet — it’s comfy, breathable, and easy to move in (whether you’re walking the halls or sitting crisscross applesauce during story time 😄).
Add a sweater or long sleeve t-shirt on top, layer with a biker jacket for a little edge, and finish with white sneakers to keep things casual and classroom-ready.
Jeans + printed sweater + moto jacket + white sneakers:
When you want your back to school teacher outfits to have a little edge but still feel effortless. The moto jacket adds structure, the sweater keeps it cozy, and white sneakers make the whole look feel cool without trying too hard.
⭐️ Styling tip: swap the sweater for a hoodie on extra casual days — still classroom-ready, still super comfy.
Dress + long cardigan + tights + comfy booties:
Another easy back to school teacher outfit that feels both cozy and elevated. Look for fitted or straight-cut knit dresses, sweater dresses, or even a simple t-shirt dress — anything that layers well without bunching.
Add tights and a soft, cozy cardigan for warmth, and finish with comfy booties you can wear all day long.
🏆 Bonus: this look transitions effortlessly from classroom to coffee date.

Hi! I’m Aimara — the voice behind Ways of Style. And no, I’m not a teacher… but I do know a thing or two about getting dressed with purpose (and comfort!).
I was born and raised in Venezuela and moved to Chicago at 27, where I later met my best friend and husband. These days, we travel full-time and live out of a 20′ carry-on bag — which means I’ve basically earned a PhD in outfit repeating and closet Tetris.
While I may not be grading papers or running a classroom, I do love creating cute, comfy looks you can actually wear in real life — and I hope this post helps make your mornings a little easier.
