Sounds crazy right? Trust me, I know it is. But besides marrying G in September 2018, nothing has ever felt so right in my life.
I’ve been dying to share more about this as things started to happen, but I couldn’t do it because A.) We weren’t 100% sure it was going to happen and B.) It could have affected G’s job somehow…. But anyways, now I can fill you in with all the details! However, if you follow on Instagram you know more or less what’s about to happen.
When do we leave?
We leave on Monday. Where? I have no clue.
We won’t be back until the middle of December for the Holidays, so I was told to pack for Summer and Fall, so I did my best to pack a Summer Capsule Wardrobe and a Capsule Wardrobe for Fall. Both capsule wardrobes are very small and with basic pieces. I hope I did ok. We’ll see when we’re on the road I guess… I will of course share some outfit ideas too later on.
How did I commit to this? I guess for YouTube LOL we thought it would make our first travel video more interesting. We’ve been documenting the whole process, so I’ll keep you guys posted when I share that video.
How it all started…
For the past almost 4 years, we’ve been saving money with the intention of traveling the world full time one day.
I feel like I’ve been living in 2 worlds; my present world and our travel world. It’s been hard, so hard! Just imagine trying to live in the present while planning this crazy adventure. I couldn’t not picture myself going on safari in Africa, diving with sharks and manta rays, roaming the streets of Tel Aviv, volunteering all over the world, seeing Mount Everest, riding horses in Patagonia, trying street food in Vietnam, going back to the Caribbean Sea, exploring Cinqueterre… you get the point. Can you blame me?
If you want to learn more about how this dream came about and how we got “ready” for it, check out these posts on our website:

I’m feeling all the feels right now… I’m so excited for what’s coming our way, but I’m also terrified… I’m someone who always thinks about the worst case scenario and trust me, I’ve thought about all the things that could go wrong with this trip, but I’m not letting my fears to stop me from living my life. This is something I’ve never really openly talked about, but I plan to. I just wasn’t sure if anyone could relate to this and it’s something I’m embarrassed and ashamed to admit.
But for now, I’m putting all those fears aside and adventuring out there into the world. Everything is going to be just fine.
What exactly have we been up to?
I feel like we’ve been kind of sneaky, but guys, I have spent the last -almost- 4 years getting ready for this trip.
Learning new skills, planning, budgeting, saving money, practicing… Ways of the World is ALL I’ve thought about and had in my mind since the moment we first came up with this crazy idea.
I’ve specifically learned so much over the past year. Even more intensely over the past 6 months. I’m so proud of myself for learning a few things that felt so intimidating before. Me and G have created something we are so proud of and we can’t wait to see how it unfolds. Building something meaningful together has been a dream of ours for a very long time now. It’s finally happening.
What is Ways of the World?
I promise Ways of the World is not one more travel account filled with highly edited photos without any type of context or information. Our goal is to travel better, leave a positive impact in the places we visit and educate ourselves as we discover new places.
We’ll also share costs so you can create your own budget and of course all the good and bad things as they happen. We have so many cool experiences planned and I can’t wait to share them with you!
To learn more about us and our blog make sure to visit our About Us page:
We plan to travel very slowly because of COVID-19 of course. We’ll start doing our thing at our own pace and doing a lot of outdoor activities because we do want to be safe. We are not sure how things are going to look like honestly, but we are ok with taking it one day at a time and see what happens. I’m sure we’ll find a way to make it work.
For now, I only know we leave on Monday September 6th to an unknown destination and we will maybe end up in Africa towards the end of the year. We are in Chicago right now, and we should be back in the US for Christmas and New Year’s and in January we’ll go somewhere else for a few months, but we literally have no idea where because we don’t know how the world will look like to be honest. We don’t have a choice other than to wait and see.
How can you support us?
We will be publishing 1 weekly video on our YouTube channel, so please subscribe :) It will take a few weeks before we start uploading, but our Instagram will be updated sooner, so please follow us there. Pretty please!! :)
There’s also a “Support Our Work” page in our blog if you want to go the extra mile.
What’s next for Ways of Style
If you are wondering what will happen to this site and my Instagram, well I’m not 100% sure.
It’s going to be a lot of work to maintain everything, and honestly my priority is Ways of the World, so things will be a little bit slower than usual but I will keep sharing stuff on Instagram at least once a week. Mostly just for fun which I hope you appreciate.
Here on the blog, I’m planning to write a couple of times a month and share more about travel style and anything related to packing, essentials, outfit ideas for traveling & airport days, how to maximize the things you packed, etc. More travel related stuff and of course, lessons learned along the way.
In the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some blog posts I already scheduled and then after that, I’ll start sharing hits and misses with the suitcase I blindly packed for this 4 month adventure coming my way. Can you imagine packing your entire life in one bag? It’s crazy. And it’s not the first time I do it LOL.
I can’t wait to show you all the ways to style the pieces I’m bringing with me!!! And the best part, is that those photos will be from really cool places!!!! It feels like a dream to say that out loud!
Final thoughts
I know how this looks. You can feel my happiness and think that the past 4 years have been nothing.
Back then, 4 years sounded like A LOT. And guess what, I now look back and I understand that time passes by anyways… might as well do something about it.
We had zero money when we started saving for this trip. ZERO.
We didn’t know anything about video editing, or SEO, or building a website or brand.
Guys, do yourselves a favor today and write down a big goal. Something you picture doing in 5 years. Then make sure you spend the majority of your days from here to 5 years doing something little every day to make it happen. It’s really that simple.
The key is to do little things consistently. Change your daily habits and you will see a difference over time.
Some days will be hard, some days you will feel like giving up. But that’s all part of the process.
Learn how to rest without quitting but do not loose sight of your goal. Think about it every single day. I promise it will be so worth it when you finally make it happen.
Do you guys have any questions? Ask away! I’m so excited to share this new chapter of my life with you! Things will be a little different, but I promise it will be fun, genuine and inspirational.
Sending you guys SO MUCH LOVE!
XO,
Aimara
PS: Things have changed a lot in the past 8 weeks when it comes to COVID, the variants etc. So I really don’t know what’s ahead of us. I think we are mostly moving somewhere else for the next 4 months and experience life somewhere new. We’ll show you around, I promise.
