10 BEST Clothing Items To Pack For Spring in Europe!

in Travel Style on 12/08/25

Spring in Europe packing can be tricky. The weather can go from sunny café weather to chilly drizzle in a heartbeat, and packing light while staying stylish is no small feat.

I’ve spent at least five springs in Europe—living out of this 20” carry-on suitcase—so I know exactly what works and what ends up sitting untouched in your bag.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this post:

✅ The 10 essential clothing items to pack for spring in Europe (use these as your base – you’ll have plenty of room for more)

✅ How to style each piece so you can create multiple outfits without extra bulk.

✅ Why these pieces will save you space, stress, and still keep you stylish on your Europe trip.

Let’s tackle Spring in Europe packing the right way!

Of course, what you pack depends on where in Europe you’re going and when in the spring.

Early March in Amsterdam is not the same as late May in southern Spain. But the good news is that these spring in Europe clothing essentials work almost anywhere in Western Europe—think Spain, Italy, Portugal, the South of France, or even other countries like Albania and Croatia.

These are the 10 BEST clothing items to pack for spring in Europe, tried-and-true pieces that will keep you warm, cool, and chic without overpacking.

1️⃣ Short Trench Coat

When it comes to spring in Europe packing, a trench coat is a no-brainer. But instead of lugging around a long, heavy version, go for a short trench coat like this one. It’s lighter, takes up less space in your luggage, and still gives you that polished European vibe.

PS: you will wear this trench on all your travel days!

10 Spring in Europe Packing Essentials! by Ways of Style

For reference I’m wearing size XS – I’m 5’4″ and weigh about 125 lbs.

⭐️ Why it works: Spring weather is all about layers. A trench protects you from light rain, keeps you cozy on cool evenings, and instantly pulls your look together. Plus, it works with literally everything. From jeans and joggers to dresses and wide-leg pants.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Throw it over your cashmere sweater and Ponte pants for sightseeing, or pair it with a little black dress and leather sneakers for a dinner out. You’ll look chic and effortless, just like the stylish locals.

2️⃣ Chore Jacket

Think of the chore jacket as your cool-girl alternative to denim. It’s structured but casual, easy to layer, and perfect for spring in Europe packing.

Wearing size XS – If this jacket is sold out, check out these ones.

I also have this denim version which is a great option too. It’s rarely available, but if you see it, snag it! I just spent 6 weeks in Asia, and it was my go-to!

10 Spring in Europe Packing Essentials! by Ways of Style

⭐️ Why it works: It’s lighter than a blazer but more polished than a hoodie, making it a great in-between piece. You’ll be glad to have it for those mornings that start chilly but warm up by noon.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Layer it over your t-shirts or sweaters for sightseeing, or pair it with joggers for travel days. It also looks amazing over a dress when you want to balance feminine with casual.

3️⃣ A Cashmere Sweater (Crewneck or V-Neck)

Europe in spring can still get chilly, especially in Northern cities or near the water. A cashmere sweater is your answer. It’s lightweight, stylish, super warm, and takes very little space in your bag.

Here’s where I buy the most gorgeous cashmere sweaters for $50 and up!

10 Spring in Europe Packing Essentials! by Ways of Style

⭐️ Why it works: Cashmere is breathable enough for warmer days but cozy enough for when the temperature dips. And if you pick a neutral shade (cream, gray, navy), it’ll layer seamlessly with every other piece in your travel wardrobe.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Wear it on its own with joggers, layer it over your dresses, or pop it over a button-down shirt for a classic, preppy look. Trust me, this is one of those pieces you’ll be wearing multiple times a week!

4️⃣ Cashmere T-Shirt

Yes, you read that right. A cashmere t-shirt. It’s one of my secret weapons when it comes to packing for Europe. It looks and feels like an elevated tee, but it’s way warmer and more polished.

Cashmere-cotton blends also work. It really just depends on the temperatures.

⭐️ Why it works: It’s soft, breathable, and instantly makes a casual outfit feel put-together. You’ll appreciate it when you want something more luxe than a basic cotton t-shirt but still want to stay comfy.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Wear it tucked into Ponte pants with leather sneakers for sightseeing, or pair it with gold jewelry and a skirt for a dinner out. It’s that versatile!

5️⃣ Cashmere Fisherman Sweater Vest or A Sweater Tank

Okay, this one is a game-changer. A sweater vest or sweater tank will give your outfits layering power without the bulk.

The one you pick depends on the temperature. Cashmere is better if it’s cold, cotton is better if it’s milder spring weather.

⭐️ Why it works: Spring in Europe often means fluctuating temps. You’re cold in the morning, warm in the afternoon, and chilly again by night. A sweater vest or tank lets you layer creatively. Plus, it’s lighter to pack than more sweaters.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Wear it over your t-shirts for a chic layered look, or on its own with your wide-leg pants and leather sneakers. You can also throw it over your dress with the trench coat on top. Endless options. Just make sure to try on all your outfits before your trip. (flat lays don’t count here!)

6️⃣ Linen Button-Down Shirt

A linen button-down is non-negotiable. It’s breathable, lightweight, and screams effortless European style.

This is where I shop for high quality, affordable linen pieces.

10 Spring in Europe Packing Essentials! by Ways of Style

⭐️ Why it works: It keeps you cool on sunny afternoons, can double as a light jacket, and layers beautifully under sweaters or vests. Linen also softens with every wash, so it just gets better with time. It’s also great for hot weather! I never travel without multiple linen pieces.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Wear it tucked into wide-leg pants, open over your dress, or tied at the waist with joggers for a casual café look. Bonus: it works as a swimsuit cover-up if your itinerary includes the coast.

Spring in Europe packing doesn’t have to be a hot mess. Answer two quick questions and get a custom packing list sent straight to your inbox 👇🏼

Think of this as your shortcut to stress-free travel: no overpacking, no “I forgot something,” just a carry-on packing list with outfits that actually work!

7️⃣ A Versatile Dress

Every packing list for spring in Europe needs one versatile dress. Think of it as your day-to-night hero.

A dress is versatile when it can be styled multiple ways. On its own, layered under sweaters, paired with a jacket, or even dressed up with gold jewelry. So it works for sightseeing by day and dinner by night.

My favorite one right now is this silk midi dress from Quince. I love the print, it’s super flattering and looks good on its own, with a sweater or with a button down shirt! This sleeveless version is also a great option if you’re looking for something with more coverage.

10 Spring in Europe Packing Essentials! by Ways of Style

⭐️ Why it works: Sure, a dress is an easy one-and-done outfit, but when chosen wisely, it can be styled multiple ways. Pick one that’s comfortable for walking, neutral in color, and hits at a length you feel good in. (in my experience, midi is the most comfortable length)

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Wear it on its own with your leather sneakers, add your trench coat for sightseeing, layer the cashmere sweater over it to make it look like a skirt, or throw on the chore jacket for casual vibes. One dress = four outfits instantly.

8️⃣ Stylish Joggers

Travel days, long train rides, lazy brunches—you’ll thank yourself for packing stylish joggers.

I have the destination joggers from Albion Fit (skinny option – wide leg option). I’ve had these for years! My size is Petite S (5’4″ – 130 lbs)

10 BEST Clothing Items To Pack For Spring in Europe! by Ways of Style

⭐️ Why it works: These aren’t your gym sweats. A pair of joggers with an elastic waist in a sleek fabric looks elevated but feels so comfortable. They’re a must-have when you want comfort without sacrificing style.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Pair them with your cashmere t-shirt and sneakers for the plane, or dress them up with a linen shirt and gold jewelry for a casual dinner.

👉🏻 Also read: joggers VS jeans for traveling

9️⃣ Wide-Leg Ponte Pants

If you want something chic, comfy, and practical, wide-leg ponte pants are it. They’re structured enough to look polished but stretchy enough to handle a full day of walking. (and big meals!)

I own these pants in 4 colors! (size 4 – inseam 24″) – If sold out, check out other options here.

10 BEST Clothing Items To Pack For Spring in Europe! by Ways of Style

⭐️ Why it works: Unlike jeans, Ponte pants won’t dig in or stretch out, and they can easily transition from day sightseeing to dinner out. Choose navy or brown for the perfect balance of trendy and mix-and-match potential.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Pair them with your trench coat and sweater for classic European style, or tuck in your linen shirt for a crisp, elevated look. Add white leather sneakers for daytime, swap for flat sandals at night.

1️⃣0️⃣ Pashmina

The ultimate travel MVP: the pashmina. Part scarf, part shawl, part airplane blanket. It’s one of the smartest things you can pack for spring in Europe. (or any trip, honestly)

10 BEST Clothing Items To Pack For Spring in Europe! by Ways of Style

⭐️ Why it works: A pashmina is lightweight but warm, making it perfect for unpredictable spring weather. It takes up almost no space in your bag, yet you’ll use it constantly.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How to style: Pair it with your trench coat for extra warmth, drape it over your dress for dinner, or wear it with joggers and a sweater for cozy travel days.

🏆 Honorable Mentions for Spring in Europe Packing:

White Leather Sneakers:

If there’s one shoe that every traveler packs for spring in Europe, it’s white leather sneakers. They’re comfy enough for miles of walking but chic enough to wear with dresses, pants, or joggers. Plus, they wipe clean—essential for unpredictable spring weather.

My favorite leather sneakers are these ones. If sold out, I’ve also had these 👉🏻 option 1 & option 2 (all 3 are great but these are the most affordable option)

Crossbody Bag With Zipper:

A crossbody bag with a zipper (raffia or leather) is non-negotiable for safety and style. Europe is beautiful, but pickpocketing is real if you’re not careful.

I personally don’t believe in those expensive (and not that cute) travel bags 🤷🏻‍♀️ A stylish zippered crossbody bag keeps your things secure while keeping your hands free for cappuccinos, gelato, and shopping bags. And you won’t look like a tourist!

I’ve traveled with this one for almost 2 years now, and it’s been incredible! 10/10

Gold Jewelry:

Minimal gold jewelry adds instant polish to even the simplest outfits. A pair of hoops, a delicate necklace, or a chunky ring will make your outfits feel styled without adding bulk to your suitcase.

🌟 This is where I get the cutest and most affordable gold jewelry!

Quick Recap! 10 Clothing Items to Pack for Spring in Europe:

  • Short trench coat – Light, rain-friendly, and instantly polished for city strolls.
  • Chore jacket – A casual-cool layer that works when it’s not too hot or too cold. (denim version here)
  • Cashmere sweater – Warm but breathable, perfect for layering on chilly days.
  • Cashmere t-shirt – Luxurious and comfy, making casual outfits look elevated.
  • Cashmere vest or sweater tank – Adds depth to outfits without adding bulk.
  • Linen button-down shirt – Breathable, versatile, and doubles as a top or cover-up.
  • Versatile dress – A flexible piece you can dress up or down in multiple ways. Try to make it work with your sweaters, button downs and jackets (or at least one of the 3).
  • Stylish joggers – Comfortable travel pants that don’t sacrifice style.
  • Wide-leg Ponte pants – Chic, stretchy, and way more practical than jeans.
  • Pashmina – A lightweight scarf-shawl hybrid you’ll use constantly.

Use this list as your base when packing for spring in Europe. These 10 clothing essentials are the foundation. You can always sprinkle in a few personal favorites, but if you stick to these, you’ll have stylish, mix-and-match outfits for just about any spring itinerary.

And a quick reminder: do your best to travel with carry-on only in Europe. Between trains, cobblestones, and small hotel elevators, hauling a giant suitcase is more hassle than it’s worth. (this is the carry-on I travel with)

Packing light isn’t just convenient, it gives you more freedom to enjoy your trip!

If you want extra help planning your outfits, don’t forget I’ve put together a customized packing list for spring or summer trips. It takes the guesswork out of packing and helps you feel prepared (without overpacking!).

Yesterday we had a full day of exploring different Yesterday we had a full day of exploring different places and I needed different outfits but I didn’t have space to bring a whole new look. That’s when button down shirts + sneakers come handy!

In the morning we went to the beach to snorkel and in the afternoon we explored Mayan ruins and had drinks and dinner. I needed sun protection and sneakers because they don’t recommend to walk the ruins in sandals (uneven terrain). I was able to change the wet bathing suit at the beach restaurant and didn’! get sunburn! Win win!!

Back home after spending the best 3 months of my l Back home after spending the best 3 months of my life in Turkey 🇹🇷❤️

We definitely left a piece of our hearts there, but we also learned so much and we know we will be back many times! And it feels good to be with family this time of the year.

I know I didn’t do a good job at posting in here. Honestly, I thought it was going to be easier, but starting a new Instagram, blog and YouTube channel from scratch for @waysoftheworld_ took a lot more time than I ever thought it would! So now, I’ll try to share some of my favorite photos from this trip in here because it’s never too late 🙃

This one was taken in a small mediterranean town called Kas. It was one of our favorite places in all of Turkey! It’s the perfect vacation spot to just enjoy life 💕

Feels good to be back! Hope everyone has a great week ahead and thanks so much for being here!!

Turkey has been incredible. We are blown away by h Turkey has been incredible. We are blown away by how beautiful it is, all the different landscapes, the food, and above everything, the people ❤️

Looking back to a few weeks ago when I was really afraid of going on this trip, thinking about all the things that could go wrong, being a little upset with myself in a way for not wanting the traditional life path I always thought was my only choice; get married, buy a house, have kids, save money and travel when you retire. That’s not for me.

I’m very happy I followed my heart 💕 I wrote a letter to myself on the blog: “What’s the best that can happen if the worst happens?” You can check it out by clicking the link in my bio. I hope it inspires you to think about what YOU really want in your heart, make a plan and go after it (but be patient). I promise that if I did it, so can you.

You have everything it takes ❤️

I basically only wear olive green and white now 😂 I basically only wear olive green and white now 😂

Our days in beautiful Kas are almost over. I’m leaving a piece of my heart in this cute little town and we will definitely be back! Now it’s time to hop on a 6 hour bus to Pamukkale and see what that place is all about!

Honestly, the only reason we are going there is because of me. G is not too crazy about it, but I’ve seen it on Instagram so much that I wanted to see for myself what the buzz was all about. So I’ll keep you posted on what it actually is!

If you are interested in knowing more about Kas (and all the amazing places we are visiting) we share a lot more on @waysoftheworld_ 💞
We talk about useful tips, costs, best things we do, where we stay and so much more. I also update those stories daily! So I hope to see you there 🙃

I was brave 💙 This was the most amazing experienc I was brave 💙

This was the most amazing experience. I was SO nervous and anxious before but somehow I managed to push through and tried this very scary thing for the first time. And you know what I learned? That I loved it! I would do it again a million times! It wasn’t scary at all. It was all in my head and it wasn’t real. Also, they had the sweetest dog at the shop named Lucy that really help me not to think about it (swipe to see her 😍)

We didn’t do any crazy tricks like G did and it was a very peaceful flight. It’s up to you how you want to do it.

I can see why Ölüdeniz is one of the top places in the world to go paragliding. If you only want to do it once to cross it off your bucket list, this is the place you go to. We shared a post about with useful information in case you are interested. Link in bio + stories.

Would you do it? 🙃
