1️⃣ A Travel Adapter:
Did you know there are over 15 different plug types used around the world? 🧐
That’s why a travel adapter is an absolute must-have. This little gadget is your secret sidekick for international trips. It’s compact, versatile, and ready to bridge the gap between you and a fully charged device no matter where in the world you find yourself.
Trust me, you’ll be glad it’s in your bag when you land in a new country. Plus, a good travel adapter is an item you only need to buy once.
A quality adapter is designed to work with almost every plug type you’ll encounter, making it a smart, one-time investment that pays off on every journey.
🎯 This is the one we’ve traveled with since we left to travel full time. It’s usually out of stock though, and if it is, just grab this one instead. It has amazing reviews!
(the one we’ve had for over 4 years of non-stop use, has bad reviews just FYI. I don’t know why but just letting you know in advance)
2️⃣ A Face Towel:
I pack my own face towel because I’m not about drying my face with something that might have a wild past 😅 Plus, hotel and Airbnb towels are usually white, so even a little dab of makeup can turn them into a canvas of stains.
I like knowing my face towel is fresh and clean, which is why this is one of those essential travel items not to forget! You’ll thank me when you’re drying your face 😂
Now, you definitely don’t need one as cute as this one. Any face towel you have at home will do the trick. But since I don’t really have a “home” in the traditional sense, having a cute face towel just makes me happy, so it’s worth it.
It’s a little travel luxury that brightens my day and reminds me that sometimes, the small things are the best things.

3️⃣ A Nail File:
There’s nothing more annoying than a chipped nail that scratches you or your clothes.
That’s why carrying a nail file is a must. It’s one of those super common forgotten travel items that you probably already have at home!
It takes up virtually no space, weighs almost nothing, and fixes your nails in seconds, keeping you looking smooth and hassle-free on the go!
4️⃣ A Nail Clipper:
And speaking of nails… This is another easily forgotten but incredibly useful item that you probably have at home as well.
Ever had one of those mornings when you’re all set to head out but then notice your nails need a quick trim? Or worse, you notice a pesky loose tag (or thread) dangling from your shirt?
Don’t stress! A trusty pair of nail clippers is one of those forgotten travel items that can save your day in a snap. These little wonders are so compact and lightweight that they barely take up any space in your carry-on, yet they come to the rescue when you need a quick fix.
5️⃣ Make-up Remover Rounds:
I swear by these! Reusable makeup remover rounds take up zero space, are washable, and let you remove your makeup with just water.
Not only do they save space in your toiletry bag, but they’re also an eco-friendly alternative to disposable wipes.
I am someone who already travels with very few toiletries and these make-up remover rounds were a game changer in helping me simplify my toiletry bag. No need to bring a face wash when I’m on the go.
🎯 Link to the ones I have here. I usually travel with 2.

Simply answer these 2 questions about your trip and I’ll send you a customized packing list! It’s that easy. I’ll tell you exactly what to pack depending on the length of your trip.
The best part? I’ve tried and tested these packing lists 👇🏼
6️⃣ Forgotten Travel Item: Pajamas!
My pajamas are hands down my favorite travel essential. I simply cannot travel without them.
After a long day of exploring, slipping into a cozy pair of PJs is like a mini celebration. They add a touch of luxury to your downtime and make you feel right at home, no matter where you are.
I always pack a pair of short-sleeve, short pajamas, and I swear by silk ones because they’re ultra-light and take barely any space. Seriously, one pair per trip is all you need if you have access to a washer.
It’s one of those little must-have travel items that keeps your evenings chill and your mornings fresh.
🎯 I’ve had many PJs over the years, but these are my latest obsession! 🤩
7️⃣ Flip Flops OR Easy-To Wear Sandals:
Hotel or Airbnb floors are rarely as clean as your own home, so stepping out barefoot can leave your feet feeling not-so-fresh by bedtime. That’s why a pair of flip flops or easy-to-wear sandals is a must-have.
Whether you opt for cozy socks or go with stylish waterproof Birkenstocks, having that extra barrier between your feet and potentially grimy floors can keep you comfortable and confident wherever you wander.
I’m a big fan of waterproof Birkenstocks because they’re super easy to wash and add a chic touch to most of your travel outfits. They’re one of those forgotten travel items that might seem minor but can seriously upgrade your trip.
8️⃣ Reusable Storage Bags:
Think Ziplocs, but better. Reusable storage bags are a game changer for any traveler, especially eco-conscious ones like us. They’re good for a quick snack, organizing toiletries, or keeping wet items separate.
I love these reusable storage bags because they’re one of those forgotten travel items that make a huge difference. Not only do they cut down on single-use plastic waste, but they also let you pack smarter and more efficiently.
They’re easy to wash, quick to dry, and add a burst of practicality to your travel routine. Once you try them, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without one!
Forgot Travel Item #9️⃣: Re-usable Water Bottle
A reusable water bottle is one of those forgotten travel items that you never knew you needed until you’re knee-deep in a European summer adventure.
So, especially if you’re heading to Europe, a reusable water bottle is a game-changer! Water can get surprisingly pricey in touristy areas, so having a refillable bottle not only saves you cash but also keeps you hydrated throughout the day. Plus, it’s eco-friendly!
If you’re short on space, go for a collapsible design. These bottles fold down small when empty, yet expand to hold plenty of refreshing liquid when you need it most. Perfect for those hot summer days!
1️⃣0️⃣ Tweezers:
Tweezers might be tiny, but they’re a total lifesaver on the go. These are one of those forgotten travel items you never think to pack until you really need them. Whether it’s plucking an unruly stray hair or removing a pesky splinter, these mini tools are always ready to save the day.
Their compact size and light weight make them the perfect addition to your travel kit, slipping into any pocket or pouch without any fuss.
1️⃣1️⃣ Stain Remover Pen:
Spills happen, especially while traveling.
You’ll be eating lots of delicious foods and they can leave marks on your clothes. But that’s ok! That’s why you’re bringing a stain remover pen this time around 😉
This nifty little gadget is one of those forgotten travel items you won’t want to leave home without. With just a quick swipe, any accidental splatter is gone in seconds, saving your outfit from a messy mishap.
Enjoy your food adventures knowing that a stain is never the end of the world, just a minor blip you can easily erase!
1️⃣2️⃣ A Laundry Bag!
Having a designated spot for dirty laundry keeps your suitcase organized. A lightweight, foldable laundry bag keeps your clean clothes separate from the not-so-clean ones, so you never have to worry about mixing them up.
This is one of those often forgotten travel items that makes a huge difference. It takes up almost no space and keeps your bag organized, even on the busiest trips. so, go ahead and add it to your packing list right away.
Also, you don’t need anything fancy! If you don’t want to buy a new one, an old shoe bag or the one that comes with your packing cubes works perfectly!
1️⃣3️⃣ Foldable Tote Bag:
A foldable tote bag is the ultimate travel companion for those spontaneous grocery runs, beach days, or day trips. When you’re traveling by bus or train with no strict luggage limits, this bag comes in super handy. It’s one of those forgotten travel items that might seem small but can really change your travel game.
I’ve found that we tend to accumulate cooking items and little treats along the way when we’re on the road. Snacks, spices, even a quirky kitchen gadget or two 🙈
That’s why I always pack a foldable tote bag. It’s versatile, easy to pack away, and perfect for keeping all those extra goodies organized. Once you start using one, you’ll never want to leave home without it!
BONUS: Non Physical Items, But Just As Important Thins You Should NOT Forget!
✅ Travel Insurance: If you’re traveling internationally, travel insurance is a must. It covers unexpected medical issues, trip cancellations, and lost luggage. We always use SafetyWing for peace of mind.
✅ A VPN: Public Wi-Fi at hotels, airports, and cafes isn’t always secure. A VPN protects your personal information and lets you access region-blocked websites. We’ve been using Surfshark for over four years, and it’s been a lifesaver!
✅ An E-Sim: Avoid the hassle of hunting down a SIM card when you land. An e-SIM lets you connect to data immediately, so you’re not stuck relying on slow airport Wi-Fi. Perfect for international travel! The best part is that you can buy it and set it up before your trip, and just turn it on when you land with just the click of a button. We always use and recommend Hola-Fly.
Final thoughts:
Traveling is all about those little moments that add up to unforgettable adventures. It’s not about packing every single thing, it’s about packing smart.
These 13 forgotten travel items may seem small, but each one has the power to transform a stressful situation into a smooth, enjoyable experience. Whether it’s a handy stain remover pen that saves your favorite tee or a practical foldable tote bag that makes a short day-trip easier, every piece of your travel kit plays its part.
So as you pack for your next journey, remember: you’re not just filling a suitcase, you’re crafting an adventure you’ll hopefully remember for years to come.
So, embrace the freedom of traveling light, enjoy the ease of being prepared, and trust that these 13 simple items will be your little secret weapons on the road.
