Details about these PJ set
First of all, this printed silk pajama set is $89 (I’m wearing a size S – today is 40% off FYI). And I know what you are thinking, but you are basically getting a cute fashion pajama set, shorts and a t-shirt, which makes these pyjamas perfect for traveling! Actually, I’m bringing them on my trip around the world (whenever that happens), so I’ll be saving these looks for myself as well LOL.
If you do not want to pay for new PJs that’s fine too! My intention with this post is to inspire you to maximize what you already have in your closet and I hope it helps you create some cute pajama outfits with things you already own. So if you already have a cute silk PJ set, you can totally recreate these looks with them, using the top and bottom.
There were so many cool pajama trends last year, that I ended up buying a couple, but this year there are also so many cute pyjamas that I’ve already bought 2 more and then, I realized I had a problem… I have way too many PJs! That’s why I wanted to find a way to create some pyjama day outfits in order to maximize and justify my senseless obsession with looking cute for bedtime.
Ok, I always tend to talk way too much and never cut to the chase, so without further ado, here are the 7 looks styling pajamas as daywear. Including a bonus look styling the PJ top as well at the end of the post.
Pajamas as daywear – 7 looks
Look 1 – Brunch outfit idea
It was very easy to put all these outfits together believe it or not. Here’s my thought process on how to style pajama pants: I basically took out all the tops that have the same colors present in the shorts and a few pair of shoes. That’s it! This is a great way to start (also take out some neutrals no matter the print). What I want for you is to create your own version of these looks with things you already own, so it’s time to get creative! Don’t be afraid to play with blazers and layers too! I shared more tips on how to maximize what you have in your closet in this post.
This look is super simple, I paired the cute PJ shorts with a lavender top, flat sandals and accessorized with these tassel earrings. All of the upcoming looks are perfect street style looks if you ask me!
*Sorry the exact top and sandals are old and not available any more, but I’ve included options I think would look good too!
Look 2 – The perfect Spring outfit
I wanted to do something different with this look and while I was looking for options I stumbled upon this lightweight trench (it’s very old, so I couldn’t find the exact one. Sorry!). I layered it with a white cami, which is a must in every girl’s closet, and espadrille wedges. What do you think of this one? It’s such a comfy, yet stylish look! Honestly, who knew you could style sleepwear like this? I would have never done this a few years ago!
Look 3 – Basic with white t-shirt and sneakers
For this look, I wanted to do something very casual and easy to recreate. And what a better way to do it than with a white t-shirt and white sneakers? You can’t go wrong! If you ask me, you can put anything in between a white t-shirt & sneakers and be good to go (jeans, shorts, skirts, printed pants, etc). I do this at least once a week. Especially when I don’t know what to wear.
When you do something this basic, try to include accessories to look more dressed up (if that’s what you are going after). That’s why I added the headband, but you can use whatever you have (earrings, hat, necklace, bag, etc). If you have no clue on how to style pajama pants or any particular bottom piece (pants, skirts, shorts), start with pairing it with a t-shirt and sneakers. I promise it works every single time! This is the easiest way to create pajama day outfits. Give it a try!
Look 4 – Another look to go out for dinner
I created this look at the very last minute and it’s my favorite one I think! (It’s hard to choose)
Once you take out all the top options that might go well with any cute PJ shorts or pants you have, you’ll be surprised with all the different ways you can style them. I found this top in the back of my closet and thought the color looked perfect with the printed shorts (it’s light blue but you can’t really see it in the pic). Added strappy sandals and tassel earrings and that’s it! I can’t wait to sit outside somewhere on a date night with this look :)
Look 5 – Styling pajamas as daywear with a chambray shirt
It’s not one of my outfit blog posts if it doesn’t involve a chambray shirt or a white T-shirt LOL. If you’ve been following for a while you know that to be true!
Here’s the thing with chambray shirts, you can layer them, wear them as a button-up or tie them in front. That’s why I have it on my list of 15 pieces you need if you want to build a capsule wardrobe! For this look, I could have gone either way, but I decided to layer it with a white cami because it was just so comfy :)
Look 6 – With a sweater to honor my Chicago gals ;)
I used to live in Chicago and I know a lot of you who read my blog are still there, so I wanted to include at least one look with a sweater… Even though I’m perfectly aware it is not realistic this time of the year and I’m very sorry for that. But here you have it for when you can finally dress like this. Style your PJ shorts with a sweater, cute earrings and espadrille wedges for Spring (or Summer!).
Bonus look – Pajamas as daywear with the PJ shirt!
Did you think I was going to forget about the shirt? The pajama shirt trend was real last year and honestly, I think it will always keep coming back, because if you think about it, it’s like a really soft button-up shirt. You can wear your PJ shirts with jeans and flats, shorts, sneakers, heels, tie a front knot, layer it with a sweater, wear it open with a white cami underneath… the sky is the limit! Well, not really, but you do have a lot of options too.
Here’s an example on how you can style a PJ shirt in a very casual way:
This is a classic Aimara look! Everyone who has known me for a while knows this is something I would have worn 10 years ago, and it’s something I still wear today as you can see. I’m not a huge fan of trends, my style has always been very classic and timeless. I find it a lot easier to shop and keep things in my closet longer this way ;)
Please keep in mind that these looks are for inspiration and you do not have to recreate them exactly like this. Mix and match and have fun with it! Make your own outfits and be YOU! Now you can say you are literally wearing pyjamas all day and don’t feel bad about it LOL. So tell me, are you going to style your pajamas as daywear?
This felt good! (very small update)
WOW it felt good to write this blog post… It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these style ones. I’ve been so focused on other personal projects for the past few months that I totally neglected this blog, but it feels good to be back (sort of back). I can’t wait to share what’s next though. I hope I have good news to share in the next couple of months.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Please let me know if you have any questions in the comments below. I’m always here to answer any questions you may have.
Hope you have an amazing day ahead!! :)
XO,
Aimara
