I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am about Jewel Osco doing deliveries! Since I don’t have a car, during this time of the year, I rely heavily on delivery services. Weather here in Chicago gets pretty nasty so at some point, walking is no longer a viable option, and taking an Uber or Lyft everytime you need to go to the grocery store can get very expensive, not to mention time consuming. Oh, and you freeze your butt off walking anywhere! The closest super market to my apartment is like 10 blocks away. There’s a small one across the street, which I love, but it doesn’t have everything I need.
I, of course, tried Jewel’s Home Delivery Service myself to tell you all about it and the whole process was very easy breezy. First you need to register on their website. After you register you can start adding things to your cart. This process in particular was very easy since you can shop by aisle or by recipe, or simply search for the items on your grocery list. The display of the products has photos and a good description, which is always useful to avoid mistakes.
Another thing I really liked was that all of the products you shop for, get automatically saved on your history, so for someone like me, who shops for the same things almost every week, this feature is a true time saver. So, I added all my groceries for the week and proceeded to place my order. And considering that this is how it looked like outside when I placed my order…
…I was more than happy to click on that ‘Place Order’ button and just forget about going to the grocery store during the weekend. I didn’t pay a shipping delivery fee because it was my first order, so that was nice. Don’t miss out on this deal! This is what they are offering when you register:
- $25 Off + Free Delivery on your 1st order when you spend $100 or more (Use Promo Code: JEWEL or
- Free Delivery on your 1st order with a $30 minimum purchase required (Use Promo Code: FREE).
Both offers are valid on orders placed through 2/28/18.
On delivery options they are not short on choices either. They offer 1-hour delivery windows (This is the option I chose). I ordered my items to be delivered the next day (Saturday morning) from 9-10 am and the delivery guy was calling me at 9:20 telling me he was outside. He came upstairs and gave me all my groceries (They can bring your bags to your kitchen as well!). I signed a copy of the detailed delivery and even tried to tip him and he told me that they don’t accept tips, which means everything’s included on the delivery cost. Regular delivery fees are:
- 1-hour delivery window: $5.95 on purchases of $150 or more, $7.95 on purchases under $150
- 2-hour delivery window: $2.95 on purchases of $150 or more, $4.95 on purchases under $150
- 4-hour delivery window: typically FREE
You can also use the Drive Up & Go™ option if you have a car and it’s FREE (Available at select store locations). All options are available 7 days a week. Another cool option is same day delivery, if you place your order before 1pm. Just be aware that there’s a $30 minimum when you place an order for delivery or pick up.
I was very happy to have delivered all the bulky and heavy items like these:
These are always super annoying to carry home and if G’s not around to go to the grocery store with me, I can only carry a few of these at a time. And let me tell you, it’s very annoying to go to the grocery store to realize that you have to go back because you can’t carry back home everything you need.
Needless to say, I’m very happy with this new service and I encourage you to make your life easier and try it too! Especially during the Holiday season where things get crazy crazy! Hey, you can even order ice cream and vegetables because delivery trucks are equipped with frozen and chilled compartments.
