I’m back in Chicago after spending 3 glorious weeks in sunny Florida. It wasn’t a vacation, but it sure felt like one. My job allows me to work from any place as long as I have an internet connection and G’s job is flexible with working from home as well. We would wake up every morning and go for a walk or bike ride, work for 8-9 hours and then after 5 pm we would go to the gym and sometimes even tennis… Let’s not even talk about the weekends… Beach, snorkeling, hiking, you name it. I am exhausted, but that’s exactly what I wanted LOL. I can sleep here. I’m not missing anything going on outside.
It’s very cold and I am a little shocked right now, so it seemed appropriate to share some cozy Winter looks with these warms boots I got in December at DSW.

I love these boots. I think it’s super hard to find good Winter boots that are functional and cute, but it wasn’t hard to find these ones at DSW this last December. It was actually VERY hard to choose just one pair. That’s something I’m trying to be better at. If I only need one thing, I’ll only go to the store and get that one thing I need. That’s the best way to practice sustainability in my opinion.
Anyways, here are the 4 cozy Winter looks I created around these boots. I’m not someone who dresses up at all, and most certainly I don’t dress up during Winter unless it’s a special occasion. These looks are pretty much different versions of all my Winter uniforms. I’m also sharing some winning formulas so you can recreate any of these looks with things you already have in your closet 🙂
The trick is to follow the formula, item by item. Take out all your options and put them in your bed or floor or in hangers so you can evaluate each piece separately and visualize what goes well together. Then, try things on or start putting looks together (flatlays) and take a photo for your records. This is what I try to do, but I put my photos on the internet instead LOL. You can do that too if you want 😉 but you get the idea right? I know it sounds silly, but it really makes it easier if you take all the pieces out following a formula.
Here’s an example:
Look 1:
The formula:
Winter Boots + Leggings + Long Sleeve top + Long Cardi + Cozy Scarf
So, to follow the formula here for example, take out all your Winter Boots (or just the one pair), all your leggings, all your plain long sleeve tops, all your long cardis and all your scarves. Put them all next to each other and start mixing them together. Try them on and take photos for your records. I know this seems like a lot, but you only need to do this once.
I promise that this will make getting dressed so much easier! This really helps to maximize what you have in your closet. You’ll see you’ll start wearing things you don’t frequently wear.

Look 3:
The formula:
Winter Boots + Skinny Jeans + Striped Sweater + Puffer Vest + Plaid Scarf
Tip: When you are mixing prints like this, make sure both prints have one or two colors in common. Also, don’t mix 2 busy prints together.
